Mini-budget Marketing

You've cut expenses, cut again, and cut some more. Now you realize there is not much left to work with in your marketing budget. Don't despair. You can still develop an effective marketing plan with a very small budget. The trick is to optimize the results you generate from every dollar you spend. This may mean a radical departure from what you've done in the past, but new times often require a new approach.

This issue's link will offer you some new ideas that may start you thinking about that new approach. Spend a few minutes reading about how to develop a Low-Budget High-Impact Marketing Plan. We think you may find some eye-opening ideas on how to get more "bang" for your buck.

  Inspirational Words of the Day
"You can have everything in life that you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”
- Zig Ziglar

That's a simple sentence but think about it for a moment. If "enough other people" included your family, your neighbors, your employees, and your customers, and you really could help the people in each of these groups get what they want, how would your life be affected?

Let's narrow that down group for a "test" case and just consider your customers. If you could help them get what they want relative to their relationship with you, your business, and your product, how could that affect you? You would surely outshine your competition and undoubtedly earn their repeat business. So how do you accomplish that? First, find out what it is they really want. You find that out by asking and then by putting yourself in their shoes for some imaginary role playing. Identify their problems and become the solution wherever you can. Make their life easier and you become the hero.

Don't stop there. Apply the same scenario to the other important people in your life. What do your employees really want? Is it just a paycheck? Probably not. Find out what it is and you will not only motivate them beyond your wildest expectation, you will also earn their respect and their loyalty.

The same lesson can be applied to your spouse and your children, and, to lesser degree, even your neighbors and other associates. Learn to focus on solving the other person's needs and you will profit in untold ways.

Checkmate Tip: Using a Laser Printer with Checkmate

Did you know you can use a laser printer with Checkmate to run reports and dismantler worksheets? We currently support the Hewlett Packard 1320, 2015 series and 3050 series laser printers for Internet Checkmate.

To install one of these printers on your Checkmate server, begin by connecting the printer and installing the printer driver. If you have a choice of drivers, select PCL6. Next, go to ICM "Change Terminal or Printer" (6,9 Checkmate; S5 Classic), then go to "General Options" and set the printer up as a choice #28 (HP 6 & 2100). Now go into "Change Paper Settings" (6,7 Checkmate, U18 Classic) and set up the paper to print in either the portrait or the landscape mode. Note: some of the Advanced Management Reports require legal sized paper (8.5" x 13") set up in the landscape format to capture a complete page on one sheet.
